Worship

JESUS

Jesus plus nothing equals everything. We want to see Jesus lifted high.

TRUTH

The Word of God and the Spirit of God in the people of God is more than enough to do the work of God.

LOVE

Truth cannot travel faster than love. We will be known as His disciples by the way we love one another.

PRAY

"Prayer does not equip us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work." (Oswald Chambers)

Pray big. Start small. Go deep.

FAMILY

SEEK

We leave the 99 to find the 1. No one seeks God; God seeks us and uses us to seek others.

TRANSFORM

Healthy things grow. We never stop working to be conformed into the likeness of Christ. Not perfect; always in progress.

connect

Church is not an event to attend; it's a family to belong to.

UNITE

As one in Christ we reflect the diversity of our community and work toward the diversity of the Kingdom.

MISSION

mobilize

Everyone of us is "sent" to live as missionaries where we live. We don't accumulate consumers; we empower disciple makers. The church is an army; not an audience.

INVEST

Live sufficiently; give extravagantly. We are radically generous because the King of Heaven left everything to pursue us. We will hold the temporary loosely to secure the eternal.

Disciple

Every follower a disciple. Every disciple a disciple maker. Small is big, slow is fast, and multiplication wins every time. When we abide; we bear fruit.

MULTIPLY

The seed sown in good soil will multiply. Disciples make disciples. Groups start new groups. Churches plant Churches. Multiplication leads to movement.

"For the City"

City Church was birthed out of a heart for the city of Huntington. When Phil and Stephanie Smith graduated from Marshall University and shortly thereafter left West Virginia for Kentucky, they never thought they'd return. But God had different plans and in the summer of 2016, after a few years of wrestling with the idea, Phil gave voice to the desire to go back home to plant a church and start a business for the good of the city.

Somewhat to his surprise, Phil's idea caught some traction. After spending the summer praying, a team of 6 adults and 7 kids had committed their lives to plant a disciple-making, church-planting church in Huntington. Three families whose lives had been changed by a disciple making movement at NorthEast Christian Church would sell their homes, give up careers, and say good-bye to family to see that movement multiply in Huntington, Appalachia, and beyond.
